McDowell's No. 1 Reserve is a blended whisky that combines Scotch single malts from Diageo distilleries in Scotland with Indian single malt and grain whiskies. It was launched in 1968 and is produced by McDowell & Co., a part of United Spirits Limited, which is owned by Diageo India since 2014. This whisky has become the best-selling whisky brand in India and the largest seller globally, with around 30 million cases sold annually.
The aroma is characterized by sweet notes of toffee, butterscotch, honey, and vanilla sugar, complemented by hints of green apple, pear, dried grass, and malted biscuits. There are also subtle notes of baking spice, cocoa, and white chocolate.
Vanilla
On the palate, McDowell's No. 1 Reserve is soft and sweet, with prominent flavors of toffee and butterscotch alongside honey and white chocolate. A hint of dried grass provides grip, while late spiciness introduces warmth from white pepper and cinnamon.
